About the Sorento Nameplate

The Sorento is Kia's mid-size SUV, in production since 2002 across four generations. This badge is built for the first generation (2002-2009), recognizable by its boxier body-on-frame styling and available V6 engine options. It was one of Kia's first genuinely capable SUVs in North America and remains a common sight on the road today, which is why replacement and upgrade badges for this generation stay in steady demand.

Fitment Notes

The emblem is shaped for the first-generation tailgate curvature. If you drive a newer Sorento (second, third, or fourth generation), let us know so we can adjust the mounting profile rather than assuming a universal fit.

Materials and Mounting

This is a "MIXT" type badge, combining a chrome ABS 3D lettering piece with a resin backing plate, applied with automotive-grade 3M adhesive tape.

Before You Order

Confirm your Sorento generation and year, the tailgate surface curvature, and your preferred finish (chrome or black).

A Note on Generation Confirmation

Since Kia has produced four distinct Sorento generations with meaningfully different tailgate shapes, the single most useful thing you can do before ordering is confirm your model year, or better yet, send a photo of your current tailgate badge area. This lets us build a backing plate that matches your car's actual curvature rather than the first-generation profile this listing is based on.

Installation and Care

Before installing, thoroughly clean the tailgate surface with isopropyl alcohol to remove wax, dirt, and any old adhesive residue, then position the badge using the supplied template or reference marks and press firmly for the full length of the emblem, holding pressure along any raised lettering for a few seconds. Let the adhesive cure for 24 hours before running the car through a wash. Afterward, treat it like any other exterior trim piece: hand wash, avoid abrasive pads directly over the emblem, and check the edges periodically for lifting in extreme heat or cold.

Why Order a Custom Badge Instead of a Generic Reproduction

Generic tailgate badges are often sized for a "universal" curvature that does not match every Sorento generation, leading to gaps or a badge that never sits flush. Building yours to order lets us match the first-generation tailgate profile specifically, choose the exact "Sorento" wording and finish, and avoid the fitment guesswork that comes with mass-produced parts.
