The Cadillac ATS was Cadillac's first true sports compact sedan and coupe, produced from 2012 to 2019, designed specifically to challenge the BMW 3 Series on its home turf. Built on the lightweight Alpha platform (later used for the Camaro), the ATS offered a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 (272 hp), 3.6L V6 (321 hp), and the ATS-V version with a twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 producing 464 hp and a curb weight under 1,700 kg. The ATS-V won multiple comparisons against the BMW M3 and Audi RS4 for its engaging driving dynamics, precision steering, and Brembo brakes. The ATS Coupe (2014-2019) particularly stood out for its elegant fastback proportions in the premium compact segment.
