The Hummer H3 was Hummer's most accessible model - a compact off-road SUV built on GM's GMT345 platform (shared with Chevrolet Colorado) and produced from 2005 to 2010, bringing the Hummer brand within reach of mainstream buyers. The H3 offered a 3.5L inline-5 (220 hp, 2005-2007) or the larger 3.7L inline-5 (242 hp, 2008+), plus an H3T pickup variant launched in 2009. Despite being significantly smaller than the H1 and H2, the H3 retained genuine off-road credentials: 9.1 inches ground clearance, available Xtreme Off-Road Package with skid plates and rock rails, 1-speed transfer case, and NP236 transfer case. The H3 Alpha V8 (2008-2010) with a 5.3L V8 (304 hp) transformed the H3's performance credentials, achieving 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds - faster than many contemporary sports cars. Approximately 57,000 H3s were produced, making it the most common Hummer.
