Soft Close Door Kits for Cars and SUVs

What Are Soft-Close Car Doors?

A soft-close door kit is an add-on system that finishes closing a car door once it has been pushed to its initial catch position. The driver or passenger still closes the door by hand to that first catch; the kit then takes over and draws the door the rest of the way into its fully closed position. It is not an automatic door opener, and it does not move a fully open door on its own. Soft-close doors are also a different system from Power Sliding Doors and Power Liftgate, which open and close automatically without the initial manual push.

How Does a Car Door Soft-Close System Work?

Depending on the kit design, a motorized latch or closing mechanism engages after the door reaches its initial catch position and pulls it fully shut. Not every kit on this site uses an identical mechanism, so check the individual product page for the specific design used on your vehicle.

Find a Kit for Your Vehicle

Fitment is confirmed at several levels, not just by brand:

1. Vehicle brand
2. Model
3. Chassis generation
4. Body style
5. Production year
6. Number of doors or selected kit configuration

Select your brand below, then work through each step on the model page before ordering.

Why Chassis and Body Style Matter

A single model name can cover more than one generation, and each generation can differ in latch design, door wiring, mounting points and body style, such as Sedan, Touring, Coupe, Cabriolet, GT or SUV variants, along with short- and long-wheelbase versions and pre- and post-facelift changes. A kit confirmed for one chassis and body style cannot automatically be assumed to fit another, even within the same model name. Specific differences are listed on each model page rather than assumed here.

Two-Door and Four-Door Kit Configurations

Some kits are sold for two doors and others for four, and select SUVs may use their own configuration. The kit does not necessarily include every door on the vehicle; check the product page for the exact number and location of doors covered.

Installation and Compatibility

Installation requirements vary by vehicle and kit. The process may involve removing door trim, replacing or modifying latch components and connecting automotive wiring. Professional installation is recommended when the installer does not have relevant experience. Warranty implications may depend on the vehicle, local regulations and installation method; consult the vehicle manufacturer or an authorized service provider when necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a car door soft-close kit? It is a vehicle-specific system that finishes closing a partially latched door, so the driver or passenger does not need to push it firmly shut.

Does the system close a fully open door? No, the door must first be pushed to its initial catch position; the kit only completes the final closing motion.

Are soft-close door kits universal? No, fitment is confirmed by brand, model, chassis, body style and production year; a kit for one vehicle cannot be assumed to fit another.

How do I choose the correct kit for my car? Select your brand, then your exact model, and confirm the chassis code, body style and production year on the product page.

Does every kit include parts for four doors? No, some kits are sold for two doors and others for four; check the product page for the exact configuration.

Do Sedan and Touring models use the same kit? Not necessarily, since body style can affect latch and door wiring; confirm the body style shown on the product page.

Is professional installation recommended? Yes, unless the installer has automotive electrical experience, since fitting can involve automotive wiring in addition to mechanical work at the latch.

Will the kit work with my exact trim level? Confirmed fitment is listed by chassis and body style rather than by trim; check the product page if you are unsure which applies to your vehicle.
