The Pontiac Firebird is one of the iconic American pony cars, produced from 1967 to 2002 as the companion car to the Chevrolet Camaro. The Trans Am variant - particularly the 1977-1981 Special Edition 'Bandit' model with T-top roof and golden eagle hood graphics - became a pop culture phenomenon thanks to 'Smokey and the Bandit.' The 4th generation Firebird (1993-2002) featured the advanced all-aluminum Northstar-derived LS1 V8 (325-345 hp) and GTO-inspired Ram Air induction system. The Firebird Formula and Trans Am WS6 performance packages with 325 hp, upgraded suspension, and 17-inch wheels were genuinely competitive with contemporary Corvettes and Porsches at a fraction of the price. Only 2,602 Firebirds were produced in the final 2002 model year, making collector-grade examples increasingly valuable.
