The Buick Encore is Buick's subcompact luxury crossover, launched in 2012 as the brand's first small luxury SUV - and credited with reviving Buick's appeal with younger buyers. The 1st generation Encore (2012-2022) uses a 1.4L turbocharged Ecotec inline-4 (138-153 hp), available in FWD and AWD. The Encore GX (2019+, 2nd gen) stepped up to a larger platform shared with the Trailblazer, using a 1.2L turbocharged 3-cylinder (137 hp) or 1.3L turbocharged inline-3 (155 hp with AWD). At its launch, the Encore was the first luxury subcompact crossover at its price point from a US brand, competing with the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. Buick's best-selling model in China (where over 200,000 units are sold annually), the Encore is one of GM's most important global products.
